Russia’s MegaFon: Game of Thrones audience close to sports records

MOSCOW, Apr 27 (PRIME) -- A Russian audience of popular U.S. series Game of Thrones who watched the debut of the sixth season via mobile TV service MegaFon.TV on Monday approached the records set by soccer and hockey championships with domestic teams, the mobile operator said in a statement Wednesday.

“It’s still early to speak about the results of the launch of Game of Thrones, because the series have just started. We can say that the base of registered users of MegaFon.TV from the beginning of promotion of the serial has started gaining 5,000 new viewers per day. The number of users of MegaFon.TV is close to 1,000,000 and we are sure that the dynamics will grow,” Yan Kukhalsky, director for new businesses and partnerships at MegaFon, said.

Subscribers of MegaFon’s tariff All Inclusive and the bulk of Internet options watch the series for free via the operator’s partnership with online cinema Amediateka. The serial was launched simultaneously with the world’s premiere.

The audience was the largest in Samara, Moscow, St. Petersburg and Rostov.
